Description

The Convent of Carmo is located in the historic center of Moura, next to Moura Castel, allowing privileged views over the Guadiana River and the Alqueva dam.

About an hour away from Évora and a few kilometers from Spain, the Convent of Carmo is an extraordinary heritage. It was the first Convent of the Order of the Carmelites throughout the Iberian Peninsula. Originating from this monastery are the monks who would come to found the great convent house of the Carmo of Lisbon, initiative of D. Nuno Álvares Pereira. The church and cloister of the convent have been classified as Property of Public Interest since 1944.

The permitted use for the concession of the property will be of an hotel establishment, establishment of local accommodation in the form of lodging establishment, or other project of touristic purpose.
