Casa de Marrocos (Marrocos House)

Idanha a Velha, Idanha a Nova, Portugal

Upon request

The Casa de Marrocos is located in Idanha-a-Velha, near the Paleocristan Basilica, and is part of the architectural and archaeological complex of Idanha-a-Velha, which is classified as a National Monument. Thus, this property, inserted in the Roman Villa that dates back to the 1st century B.C., constitutes an urban land of great interest that was built during the twentieth century in the 50’s and remained unfinished until today. It is believed that this site, built on the old Roman forum, belonged to one of the most important families of rural owners of the region, integrating, for this reason, diverse agricultural constructions around courtyards that form a great closed quarter. The Casa de Marrocos was built in an eclectic style aligned with the late “Portuguese Soft” style and the constructive details are remarkable. It is worth noting the interior staircase of granite that runs along the three floors.

The permitted use for the concession of the property will be a tourist establishment, establishment of local accommodation or other project of touristic purpose.
