Education and Training in Tourism: more graduates and enrollments.
The latest data from DGEEC (2025) on the provision of education and training in tourism in Portugal reveals a landscape of growth in both demand and outcomes.
Portugal currently offers 123 programs in the field of tourism. Higher Education accounts for 95 programs, of which 72 are within the Polytechnic Education subsystem, 16 within the University Education subsystem, and seven are joint programs.
Vocational Education and Training (VET) comprises 28 programs.
The total number of graduates was 18,911 and total enrollments reached 30,414.
Vocational Education and Training recorded a total of 21,469 enrolled students.
The tourism sector thus shows signs of increased efficiency and of the growing importance of vocational education as an entry pathway into tourism careers.
